Here are some of the more frequently asked questions that we receive. If you need additional help, please do not hesitate to contact us

What is The Propstop?

Based in the USA I started my journey in the UK and I have been collecting since 1988 when I bought my first prop. I was an active internet user during the formation of the movie prop & wardrobe hobby online in the late 1990’s but became disillusioned how articles and threads including my own words could be deleted over time so I wanted more control over that. The Propstop was my way of retaining and showing this journey with stories and photos of some of the pieces I purchased or viewed, events I went to and auctions I witnessed in person or online. The blog site is linked to this sales site and I encourage you to read some of the hundreds of articles I have written since 2010 as an educational and informative tool.

Where do we find the items we sell?

Our main sources are direct from production and its associates including crew, set sales, liquidations and company auctions. Secondary sources include noted collections and auction houses. All of our inventory on the site has been ascertained to be authentic before we list it for sale.

How do I know the items are authentic?

After 35 years in the hobby I am a respected expert on the subject. We take each piece on its own merits and thoroughly vet each and every one using the original onscreen footage, behind the scenes information, production paperwork and interviewing the original seller if they worked on the production. If we can’t ascertain certain details we will only call it production used or made for production and not screen used. Many items made for film and tv never get used on screen which adds value to the piece if it was. Collectors today are typically very informed that several backups are made for the production process. Sometimes items that can be verified as used match to screencaps (screen match) which if we can show that will be listed with the item and marked as such.

Does my purchase come with a Certificate of Authenticity?

All items come with our coa stating what the item is. All our items are production made or used on the production and stated as such on the COA up to being used on screen (screen used).

Do you offer payment plans?

Not as this time.
